A dip in the (Hampstead) pond

Hampstead mixed bathing pond, originally uploaded by Racmol.

It's been the most fabulous sunny, hot weekend. This morning we went over to Hampstead Heath for a swim in one of the ponds, which was excellent. There were lots of people there but the ponds are so large it's not at all crowded and the water is refreshingly cold. There were even two geese and their goslings watching from the bank.

The pond definitely looks "mixed" but hardly suitable for bathing. If it was here some local authority enviro-policeman would have it closed until it was fenced with child-proof gates and treated with enough chlorine to kill all life in the Thames. It looks more like the primordial soup [a place of creation] rather than a place of recreation!

It's good to see that you have a smile and seem to be enjoying it! I guess that the only crocodiles in the water are the human kind.

Dadster, that's why I'm happy not be living in the US of A: the land of the free and home of the brave - or was, perhaps, at one stage a long long time ago.
